The Creepiest Mannequins

"QUANTUM SHOT" #856

"I hate fake people. You know what I'm talking about. Mannequins." --Jarod Kintz

Russia and Ukraine have the creepiest mannequins... which only to be expected, I suppose, since many department stores there are often left abandoned for years (not to mention whole post-communist-era industrial towns) - and those mannequins that are still in service are not normally renewed for many decades. Time and decay step in to do their inevitable part, putting the "final touches" on many superb examples of Communist kitsch:

Poor innocent babies fare the worst, when it comes to weird mannequin store placement:

Another creepy one found in Zurich, Switzerland - seems like this lady mannequin has suffered some abuse:

There are "Mannequins Randomly Reaching out of Grate" in Prague:

Here is a strange one peeking out of a car:

Some of the recent mannequin designs feature that surreal "super-happy" smile - which makes them even creepier, in our opinion. Have a look at this "happy" lady:

Here are some of the more wretched (and just plain weird) figures for your post-Halloween enjoyment (call it "mad sculpture society" if you like):

This violin player breaking through the floor can be found inside the Town Hall (also the Opera House) in Amsterdam. The artist is unknown and the statue is placed there "illegally" (or so they tell the tourists):

Here is the "Money Fountain" in Aachen, Germany, telling the story of despicable greed:

The End of the Hero:

This costume is more appropriate for Halloween than Thanksgiving, judging by its extreme creepiness factor:

And this guy would make an awesome mannequin, if he'd just sit in a store window like that, biting into his loaf of bread from time to time:
